On this visit, Father Anthony was accompanied to Augusta by his wife, Presvytera Theodora. This was a special treat, since everyone always enjoys visiting with Presvytera, and Father, too, is more comfortable and relaxed in her company. Presvytera brought photos from Astoria, showing scenes from the life of Holy Protection Parish, which everyone enjoyed seeing.

Patrick & Kristin Smith chat with Thespina and Christos Tigris

Those attending the Divine Liturgy, besides Father Anthony and Presvytera Theodora, included Basil and Catherine Gavalas, Victoria Correa, Patrick and Kristin Smith, Christos and Thespina Tigris, and Patrick Barrett. After Liturgy, we spent the afternoon visiting at the home of Basil and Catherine Gavalas.

Besides those who attended the Divine Liturgy, several friends of the Gavalas family also came to visit at their home after the Divine Liturgy. Mr. Bill and Miss Catherine entertained us all with stories of Mr. Bill's immigration and early years in America, and also shared the story of Father Anthony's telling them he wanted to become a priest, instead of a doctor.
